vital roles in the fleet well into the dawn of the 25th century. In the early 2420\'s, some members of Starfleet Command felt that it was finally time to permanently retire all the Constitution Class starships, but key Starfleet officers realized that the Constitution Class still had much more to contribute. When the decision was made to keep the class in service, it was obvious that a refit was needed to keep the class up to date with the rest of the fleet. The U.S.S. Resurrection was ordered into spacedock to receive the first of these refits, which included newly designed warp engines, state-of-the-art phaser systems, and the new burst fire Quantum Torpedo systems, to name but a few. Every single system would be upgraded with state-of-the-art technology, and the ship\'s crew requirements would remain under 250. After her shakedown cruise was successfully completed, Starfleet ordered all remaining Constitution Class starships to immediately undergo refit to the new specifications, and the U.S.S. Enterprise-A was the second ship of the class to receieve these new refits. It is not yet known for how much longer this famed class of starship will remain in service, and it is believed that this will be the last refit of the class. However, what is known is that these starships will continue to serve proudly well into the next half century, and once they are finally retired, they will have left their mark in the galaxy, and in the pages of history.
