that's logged in the console is transmitted to the server in real-time for rendering by either admins or end users, supposedly without needing SSH or RCON access. Essentially, you can read the server logs as it's actually happening. How? Telnet, of course! If you're one of the precious few on this site who knows the first thing about Telnet, you can essentially use a Telnet client to connect to a JA server via this plugin and communicate with the players. Well, to my understanding, anyway. I had a little... trouble, trying to talk to myself. This won't be of much use to Windows users hosting glorified LAN games (which technically would be a "WAN game", but that leaves the door open for snide remarks so I'll stick with "glorified LAN"), since it's compiled to work with dedicated servers hosted on Unix-based operating systems. However, if you do happen to own/rent/operate a dedicated server running on a Unix OS, and want the ability to check server logs in real-time or allow others to communicate with players on the server via Telnet, this is a useful server add-on. Well, more like a server-within-a-server. Sort of. Just make sure to read the documentation. ~Kouen
Ever wondered why one can communicate with a server via RCON, but the clients playing on the server can't communicate back? Now they can! ....well, in a manner of speaking. Basically, anything
