desaturation, but bad because it still doesn't look very good. That's not because the texture didn't come out funky, the colorations applied quite well. What worries me is the contrast. Rather than blend in with the game, this sticks out like a sore thumb wearing a neon headband and with halogen headlights mounted to it's shoulders. Okay, I'm exaggerating. But, the contrasts between this and the rest of the game, is kinda high. My biggest tip to the author, is to not just throw a layer over the texture and be done with it. Take a little time, tailor your effects to each different part of the texture, preferably do a little reworking on the texture itself. The more work you put in, the better the results you'll get. Maybe this does look slightly better than desaturation, yeah, but uniform gradients and grayscaling aren't much better than desaturation for producing these kinds of skins. Sorry if that's harsh, but hey, I'm not gonna lie to you. Post WIP shots on the forums, there you'll get advanced tips from people with more texturing experience and more Photoshop experience in general. Self-teaching doesn't always work out, and learn-by-doing is only partially effective - you need feedback from others, and if you genuinely want to be a skinner, then learning texture creation and modification is something you'll need help with. We're here to help, you just have to ask. Quick-and-easy methods may be just that, but they also produce lesser results than the more complex, time-consuming processes. The best tip I can give you is to slow down, take your time, and do things the hard way. Yes, it'll take longer, yes, it'll be more difficult, but it will be worth it in the end. Well, if you like the looks of this, you know where the link is. Whites, blacks and greys will be someone's style and they'll get something out of this, at least. someslyguy, I hope to see more work from you in the future, and hopefully you'll also take the lessons on board - no pain no gain, and no ask no get. Pushing yourself, working hard, practicing lots, and asking for plenty of feedback via "Work In Progress" threads are the keys to success, so make sure to do plenty. ~ Kouen (PS: Just a note for file submitters, you don't need to put the name of the game in the Requirements box. Logic dictates that you can't use a file for a game without having the game, I'm sure people don't need reminding of the obvious. ;) ) Bot Support: No NPC Support: No Team Colors: No Custom Sounds: No
Okay, apparently what we have here, is a Reborn texture with a uniform gradient slapped over the top. That's both a good thing and a bad thing. Good because it produces a better effect than simple
