WARNING: IT'S RECOMMENDED THAT YOU DOWNLOAD ALL THE BETA SKINS FIRST, THEN DOWNLOAD THIS PACK. THIS PACK MODIFIES VMT FILES TO REMOVE RIM LIGHTING, SO IF YOU DOWNLOAD A BETA SKIN AFTER GETTING THIS PACK, IT MAY RESTORE THE RIM LIGHTING.

For the longest time, something felt off about the beta lighting to me. Recently, I figured out that it was the fact that the beta models shown in the trailers didn't have rim lighting and they had phong exponent maps not used in the final game. Noticing that some of the beta phong exponent textures were left in the TF2 files, I decided to make this pack that restores the exponent maps and turns off rim lighting, giving the player models a very trailer-style appearance.

Update! January 9th, 2013:

  • Added Scout's beta normal map for those not using beta skins.

The beta lightwarp included is created by Hitmanx, as his lightwarps are definitely the most accurate when compared to the trailers.

No Scouts were harmed in the making of this pack, except maybe the one who has a huge scorch mark on the wall behind him in the screenshots.
