With the plethora of high-res weapon skins now available for RTCW I had started to notice how some of the old skins are now looking severely dated! most of the original weapons are in the 256X256 size and below but the most of the re-skins are the larger 512X512 size (that also features on the original fg42 and chaingun skins) I decided to give some love to the M1s 'Snooper' as this was always a favourite of mine but, with the high-res skins in place, looks oddly low-res and out of place against its sister weapon, the Kar98.

apart from the obvious increased level of detail you expect from a larger skin I also decided to give the whole skin a darker tone to better match the covert nature of the weapon, itself. apart from making the grain of the wooden stock appear richer and darkening down the infra-red lamp, I also decided to change the look of the scope exponentially, reducing the number of bolts and screws to create a sleeker, almost camera-lens look to it.

It may interest some to know that the M1s Snooper variant is not entirely a piece of fantasy on the game-developers part and that such a weapon actually was develloped by the allies during WWII. RTCW's original skin actually resembled said weapon much closer than mine but I wanted mine to look just that little bit more high-tech than may of realisticly been possible; one, to match the fantasical style of rtcw itself and two, to show that the Allies were just as capable of great feats of technical ingenuity as the axis were. With this in mind I added the OSA logo to the front of the scope to suggest that this rifle is an advanced prototype and a real one-of-a-kind...
