Steampipe:
Drop the folder "Version 1" or "version 2" into "SteamDir/SteamApps/common/Half-Life 2/hl2/custom" and it should work.
Pre-Steampipe:
Drop "materials" and "models" folders into "SteamDir/SteamApps/AccountName/Half-Life 2/hl2" and you should be fine!
