Half-Life Replacement for MP5
by Scarecrow
+++++++++++++++++ 'I AM THE LAW' +++++++++++++++
One of the few, if not the only thing about the movie that was as good as, if not better than the comic version of my beloved hero. (well what do you expect from a film who's title character is only in it for the first ten minutes.)
Whilst the original had two magazines with dual chambers for a variety of rounds, the Lawgiver 2 has a single grip-loaded magazine featuring fully programmable ammunition.
Unfortunately, I was only able to provide you with standard 9mm rounds and the grenade round.
Now you too can mete out a Mega City One style rough justice in the halls of Black Mesa.
+++++++++++++++++ Installation +++++++++++++++++
This zipfile has been carefully structured to put the contained files in to specific folders and sub folders, creating those folders if they don't allready exist.
It is IMPERATIVE that you unzip this zipfile in to the Half-Life folder in order that everything is put in the correct place.
So, when I say 'Half-Life' folder I MEAN 'Half-Life' folder, not the 'SIERRA' folder and NOT the 'Valve' folder.
So there should be no excuse to E-Mail me asking why it won't work!!!
Once you have unzipped this file in to the Half-Life folder all you need do is run the game and the MP5 will be replaced by the Lawgiver II, with custom sounds and custom selection sprites.
Have fun.
+++++++++++++++++ Sounds ++++++++++++++++++++
I took the sounds directly from my VHS copy of the movie. They sounded pretty weak on my media player under windows but they actually sound much cleaner and for some reason, much beefier in the game, with the possible exception of the 'Rapid Fire' computer voice sample. Not to worry. It won't spoil the enjoyment.
+++++++++++++++++ Animations +++++++++++++++
All new custom animations, folks!
++++++++++++++++++ Sprites +++++++++++++++++
Made from screengrabs of my model, using Photoshop and Spritewizard and Spriteviewer to edit the Sprite files
+++++++++++++++++ Technical Stuff ++++++++++
V_Weapon 806 Polys - 24 skins - total skin memory: 82.9K
P_Weapon 123 polys - 1 skin - total skin memory: 9.05K
W_Weapon 123 polys - 1 skin - total skin memory: 9.05K
The Hands are my new low-poly versions of Valve's HEV suit to allow for more polys in the weapon. Anyone wanting a copy of them in MAX or SMD format, can drop me a line at the address below. Please state which format you want or you'll get SMD by default.
Here's a wierd thing about the skins though. They were all made to multiples of 8, ie: 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, but in the model viewer they are all kinds of bizarre sizes. The only thing I can think is that the compile has clipped the skins to the absolute size used by the mesh, which despite making them an irregular size is actually a good thing as there is even less wasted space.

My old boss at 'Modelmakers' for allowing me to make a real model of one in my lunchbreaks, which I then used for reference to make this one.
Mark Murphy for figuring out what the vent holes on the muzzle were doing.
