were need to replace the losses. One ship designed before the end of the war was the Deliverance Class. Finally completed in 2376 the Deliverance never had a chance to prove herself in the war and was assigned as a perimeter ship to watch the borders of Federation space. Lessons learned during the war efforts were incorporated into the Deliverance Class, one of which was a new impulse/warp nacelle system developed by Dr Leah Brahms and her team. This propulsion system was designed to reduce the required space while enhancing the power available for propulsion, useful for such ships as the small Defiant which was riddled with problems due to the lack of space and untested systems. In the new design impulse engines and nacelles were integrated into one unit and classified as IDU (Integrated Drive Unit), reducing the space needed for the propulsion systems but also increasing efficiency due to sharing of many of the key power conversion components. The new impulse portion of the units are bolstered performance-wise by using a portion of the warp plasma normally used by the nacelles, controlled by the new components that were designed by Dr Brahms. This extraordinary combined design allows the warp plasma to increase the impulse engines efficiency and power. The Deliverance Class is a small ship designed along the lines of the troubled but ultimately successful Defiant Class, it uses the compact style that is familiar from the Defiant Class and enhances upon it to provide Starfleet and the Federation with a fast and powerful starship.
